　　蕾姬·艾伦（卡洛·朗白 饰）是一个美容院的修甲师，她从不相信爱情，以嫁给有钱人为自己的人生目标。艾伦·麦克林（拉尔夫·贝拉米 饰）是一个双腿残疾的富翁，他对蕾姬怀有好感，并告诉蕾姬，终于一天她会改变以钱为重的想法，与自己的真命天子坠入爱河。某天，蕾姬离开麦克林先生家时，偶然撞上了一个叫西奥多雷·德鲁（弗莱德·麦克莫瑞 饰）的青年，她以为对方只是个幼稚的乡巴佬，不料最终却发现他是个身价不菲的富二代，更让她惊喜的是，对方居然邀请她一起共进晚餐。蕾姬与德鲁度过欢快的一夜后，以为自己终于可以实现嫁给有钱人的梦想，却不幸得知对方很快就要结婚了，更让她出乎意料的是，晚上喝了太多酒的德鲁醉得不省人事，蕾姬不得不把他搬到自己家中过夜，谁知对方居然就这么赖了下来。
