　　很久很久以前，村庄内住着一位漂亮善良的姑娘贝儿，她为了解救被野兽囚禁的父亲，被迫与野兽同居于古堡中，他们相处得并不愉快。一次，野兽拼命从狼群中救回贝儿，令彼此间得到了解，野兽渐渐亦变得温柔，二人不但冰释前嫌互相体谅，更互生情愫。

　 怎知喜欢贝儿的大坏蛋柏加斯自以为是，突然前来袭击野兽，令其身受重伤，性命危在旦夕。深爱贝儿的野兽要她离去，不过贝儿并没有逃跑，反而紧紧与野兽相拥到最后一刻……
幕后制作：
　　这是第一部获得奥斯卡最佳影片提名的动画片，也是第一部票房超过一亿美元的动画片。该片为传统故事注入了新的生命，女主角不再出自卖弄纯真或性感的“梦露”模式，而是一个用知识武装自己、努力掌握自己命运的可爱女强人。1946年的法国原版乃不朽经典。1997年迪斯尼又发行了录影带《美女与野兽：贝儿的心愿》(Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas)。

花絮：
·片中野兽的名字没有被提到，但根据迪斯尼出版的《迪斯尼百科全书》(Official Encyclopedia of Disney，Dave Smith著)记载，他的名字叫做"亚当"。

·女主角Belle的原型是Sherri Stoner。

·《Be Our Guest》这首歌原来是给Maurice，不是给Belle准备的，但是最后制作者觉得把这么美的一首歌给配角太浪费了。

·Cogsworth的最后一句台词"Flowers, chocolates, promises you don't intend to keep..."是为其配音的大卫·奥登·斯蒂尔斯(David Ogden Stiers)的即兴发挥。

·这是第一部在结尾字幕处把片中的主要歌曲进行大串联的迪斯尼动画。

·原本屋顶打斗和森林追逐两场戏也想使用电脑技术，但是根据那时的技术水平，只有完成舞会这场戏的技术处理的时间了。

·Belle给野兽剪头时，剪出的发型跟1939年版的《绿野仙踪》里狮子的一样。

·全片在迪士尼佛罗里达片场花了一年多的时间，重制成IMAX超大银幕的胶卷，并且重映版将把当年删掉的一首歌的片段"Human Again"再度加回来，成为更完整的版本。

·在打斗戏中，野兽说"Belle is mine!"(Belle是我的！)这句台词时嘴型不符，因为原来的台词是"Time to die!"(去死吧！)，后来作者为了配合这幕中的Belle改了台词。
